UX Designer (XR)

Position: UX Designer (XR)

Previous experience: Experience with some of the following fields – VR/AR, Games/Level design, Interaction design, UX, Innovation design. Familiarity with 3D design software or game engines such as Unity is a plus.

Location: Cambridge, UK – Hybrid (3 days at the office)

Employment type: Full-time regular (flexible working options available)

The job

We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate who has a passion for UX and VR/AR and wants to be hands-on from concept through to delivery, working alongside cross-functional teams, iterating and improving designs. You’ll be working on bleeding edge technology designing an Industrial Metaverse and solving user problems of the future. You will also be joining a global UX team and collaborating with product owners, developers, and customers, as you champion the best designs for our users.

Key responsibilities

  • Responsible for UX deliverables across a range of projects, from concepts through to high fidelity interaction design
  • Work with product management to help define UX vision across various products, balancing user needs and business requirements
  • Create fun and interesting design interactions on a variety of 3D products in VR and AR
  • Be an XR advocate willing to evaluate and perform usability testing on AR/VR hardware

Ideal experience

From most to least important:

  • An understanding of the Metaverse concept
  • Degree or work experience in UX/UI or games design fields
  • Previous experience using Unity game engine (other engines relevant)
  • Ability to work across multiple platforms: desktop, mobile and VR/AR
  • Able to show and explain examples of user-centred design solutions, via UX deliverables such as user journeys, workflows, wireframes and detailed interaction specifications
  • Sketching designs with pencil & paper and digital tools

  • A passion for tech: You’ll be getting your hands on a lot of tech; knowing more than the basics of the hardware will help smooth the transition from designs to implementation.
