UX Designer (1 year contract)

The Common Components unit provides shared software engineering services to global Product Management and development teams in the OpenText™ Products group. This includes User Experience Design support (guidelines and individual product designs), Product Information artifacts (product documentation and help), Localization support, Accessibility governance (VPAT, WCAG), Performance Engineering and Product Security, Build and release management tools and services.

YOUR IMPACT:

A UX researcher role with OpenText is a role that will allow you to change people’s lives. As a User Experience Researcher, you will be expected to plan, conduct, and analyze user research activities including usability testing, interviews, surveys, and other relevant research methods. You will be responsible to effectively communicate research findings and insights to diverse stakeholders, providing actionable recommendations and insights for improvements to our software. You will help identify and solve complex software design problems in an innovative and highly collaborative environment. The User Experience Design team works intimately with product management, designers, and development to steer implementation details by advocating on behalf of the user in an agile/ iterative product development environment. You will be encouraged to foster an engineering mindset, creating new and exciting software solutions.

WHAT THE ROLE OFFERS:

As a UX Researcher, you will:

•  Aid Product Management by performing user research, including usability testing, and developing ongoing relationships with customers to build a shared understanding of their problems, needs, and experiences.

• Work with UX designers and product management identify and create user personas, and scenarios.

• Help coordinate among multiple designers supporting a suite of products, line of business or business unit.

• You will creatively engage with customers via virtual councils, Microsoft Teams sessions, and other remote technologies.

• Regularly conduct various user research activities remotely, and on occasion travel for in-person research during corporate events such as OpenText World, as appropriate and as budget permits.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including designers, product managers, and developers, to integrate user insights into the product development process.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:

•1+ years working (or equivalent experience) in usability testing, including recruit screening, experimental design, behavioral & performance observations, analysis & interpretation of test results and writing reports with easily understood prioritized issues and actionable recommendations.

• Advanced degree in Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Experimental Psychology or Human Factors, and user research and analysis experience.

• Hands on experience with any of the following tools would be an asset: Lyssna, Maze, SurveyMonkey, online collaborative white board tools (e.g., FigJam, Miro), Excel, etc.

• Strong working knowledge of statistics, statistical packages and usability testing metrics and techniques, both qualitative and quantitative.

• Passionate about creating products that best serve the needs of the user.

• Effective at influencing and convincing colleagues, and highly motivated to effect change.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conceptualize complex systems.

• Experience in enterprise software, particularly Content Management and agile processes an advantage.
