DPI Associate User Experience Designer

The Associate User Experience Designer is responsible for working as a member UL’s product teams to understand business goals and user requirements to deliver UI design assets for UL’s software products and websites. The Associate User Experience Designer also has working knowledge of additional user centered design activities including workshop facilitation, requirements gathering, wireframing, research, and/or information architecture.

Understands UX design concepts and processes. Requires guidance and direction from more senior UX staff.

Responsibilities

What you’ll learn & achieve:

  • Lead small scale projects or work as part of a team under the direction of UX manager roles.
  • Understand and advocate for client and end user needs.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to help define business and feature requirements, user scenarios, and use cases.
  • Create UX and design assets including process flows, site maps, conceptual diagrams, wireframes, and mockups to effectively communicate high-level design strategies and detailed interaction behaviors.
  • Present design concepts to the larger team in a clear and organized fashion.
  • Work closely with product stakeholders to ensure a full understanding of the product teams’ needs and priorities.
  • Participate in weekly team meetings and design reviews.
  • Work within project timelines, deliver design assets based on product roadmap.

Qualifications

What makes you a great fit:

  • Bachelor’s degree or demonstrated competency in Usability, Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology or successful completion of the DPI career development program.
  • Entry level. Generally, 0–1-year related experience or demonstrated competency
  • Expert knowledge of modern design/prototyping tools
  • 1-2 years of User Experience design experience or demonstrated competency
  • Demonstrated ability in one more additional areas of user-centered design such as content strategy, information architecture, or visual design
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working in modern research, prototyping, and design tools
  • Strong practical knowledge of user-centered design methodologies, usability principles, information architecture and interaction design
  • Take ownership for self-development, stay current with design patterns, best practices, and tools in the field of UX.
  • Accept feedback and coaching from senior teammates

Total Rewards

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. The estimated salary range for this position is $65,000-$70,000 and is based on multiple factors, including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, as well as other factors. This position is eligible for annual bonus compensation with a target payout of 5% of the base salary. This position also provides health benefits such as medical, dental and vision; wellness benefits such as mental and financial health; and retirement savings (401K) commensurate with the standard rewards offered in each individual location or country. We also provide full-time employees with paid time off including vacation (15 days), holiday including floating holidays (12 days) and sick time off (72 hours).
