Building Experience Design Internships

Are you ready to turn your creative ideas into play experiences that inspire children and adults alike? As a LEGO Design Intern, you’ll embark on a journey where imagination meets innovation. Our internships are about more than design - they’re about shaping the future of play.

About the LEGO Design Internship Program

At the LEGO® Group, we don’t just create toys - we create experiences that spark curiosity and joy. As a LEGO Design Intern, you’ll spend 4 months immersed in innovation, design, and the magic of play. With a dedicated onboarding program, a mentor's guidance, and a diverse skillset around you, you'll learn the LEGO way of product development. This is your opportunity to refine your skills and evolve as a design professional.

Building Experience Design Internship

You’ll join the LEGO Building Experience Design Team - a hub of diverse design teams. We create playful ways to enhance digital and physical LEGO building experiences, and your fresh ideas will help shape experiences enjoyed by audiences worldwide. We are recruiting interns for different teams:

  • Internship in Guided Creative Building Experiences: The Guided Creativity team designs physical and digital experiences that inspire builders to be creative with LEGO bricks. As an intern, you’ll prototype models and mock-ups, create both physical and digital concepts, and collaborate with partners across LEGO Design. You’ll also test ideas directly with consumers, making this role perfect if you love building, prototyping, and teaching others playful ways to create.
  • Internship in LEGO Building Experience, Research & Analytics: Consumer insights are central to the LEGO design process. As a Design Research Intern, you’ll collect learnings through observations, concept tests, surveys, and feedback to improve both physical and digital building experiences. You’ll also join workshops, co-creation sessions, and design sprints across the LEGO Design organization to explore new ideas and approaches.
  • Internship in LEGO Building Experience, Digital Design: The Building Experience Design Team explores and co-creates engaging LEGO building journeys for all ages. As an intern, you’ll work on creating 3D digital content and assets for our LEGO Builder app and digital building instruction.
  • Internship in LEGO Virtual Assets Design: VAD (Virtual Asset Design) transforms 2D, 3D, and animated elements into digital assets used across the LEGO Group. We create and simplify assets for building instructions, packaging, marketing, games, and other digital experiences. As a 3D Artist Intern, you’ll join a talented team of artists and animators, learning agile workflows and how production pipelines work. You’ll gain hands-on experience with box-modelling, re-topology, UV’ing, and 3D painting/texturing using industry-standard software.

Who Can Apply?

  • Students pursuing degrees in 3D Animation, Game Art, Computer Graphics, Digital Media, Industrial Design, Product Design, Design Research, Education Design, or other relevant design education
