The team you will be a part of

The Product Design team designs, validates and brings new products to market.; designs, tests and integrates components to produce final designs; and evaluates the design's overall effectiveness, cost, reliability and safety. Collaborates with internal partners to optimize designs for manufacturability. Uses CAD/CAE systems to model new designs and produce detailed engineering drawings.

This role in summary

Currently, we are seeking qualified candidates for an Associate - UX Designer opening to join our Global Consumer Design organization.

A portfolio highlighting multiple projects and your direct contributions will be needed to be considered for the role.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Create compelling, inspiring, and unique digital designs for Whirlpool connected home appliances and services.
  • Work closely with the visual and motion designers.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional global stakeholders to understand requirements and co-create thoughtful solutions.
  • Communicate the user experience at various stages of the design process with wireframes, flow diagrams, storyboards, mockups, and/or high-fidelity prototypes.
  • Advocate for user-centered design while having a vision for a now-near-far roadmap of implementation.
  • Contribute to the development of our Design Systems for the different brands to create amazing user experiences.
  • Conduct usability research to validate design solutions with users.
  • Orchestrate multi-sensory design solutions that involve sound design, motion design, visual design, light design, impacts of sensors, the impact of remote UIs from mobile devices as well as voice UIs.
  • Foster the future: Actively seek and share digital inspiration. Be on top of the IoT landscape to understand new innovations and to keep a check on the market trends.

Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or UX Design course completion
  • Experience creating mockups / rapid prototypes, user flows, wireframes, and building user interfaces.
  • Experience with Figma, Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator, Abstract, Zeplin, as well as experience with Android and IOS.

Preferred skills and experiences

  • Master's degree in Design, Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.
  • 0-3 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Ability to design seamlessly between the physical and digital experiences.
  • Relevant industry experience.
  • Excellent communication skills written and verbal.
  • Understanding of the human-centered design process.
  • Experience collaborating with a cross-functional team throughout the design process.
  • Ability to lead and ideate products from scratch and improve. features, all with a user-centered design process.
  • Skills in communicating and influencing product design strategy.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and familiarity with technical constraints and limitations as they apply to designing for multiple platforms and modalities.
