We are looking for an Associate User Experience Designer to join our integrated, cross-functional team. This role is a hybrid position that requires days on site at our main office, on occasion at the hospital, and work from home. This is a special opportunity to contribute to the innovation and delivery of our digital touchpoints across web and mobile, helping us fulfill our mission of healing humanity through science and compassion, one patient at a time. As a practitioner of human-centered, data-informed design, the Associate User Experience Designer will contribute end-to-end to deliver solutions that are effective, meaningful, and pleasurable for the intended users: externally for patients and their families, internally for medical professionals. This position will work collaboratively within the software development team to build and enhance our digital products, helping to conduct design research, and present work to Executive Leadership.
Our Ideal Candidate will have 1 -2 years’ experience in User Experience design or similar discipline that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities for this field; Experience generating insights through advanced research practices and continuous discovery (generative, evaluative); Cultivate shared understanding through facilitation, sketching, workshops, patient engagement at the bedside, in the home, and more; Make sense of complexity through framing of problem and vision, diagrams, and information architecture; Communicate user experience through patient personas, stories, journeys maps; Iterate toward optimal solutions through experiments and prototypes, ranging from hand-made artifacts to interactive digital simulations; Communicate and document design decisions and collaborate closely with other team members in business and development, partnering to resolve implementation issues and ensure quality.
With additional preferred experience and skills in contributing on projects that required knowledge of mobile platform requirements, internet/web requirements, CMS, design tools, and deliverable protocols; Solid understanding of user-centered design principles and Design Thinking methodology; General understanding of UX design for mobile and web, responsive, accessibility standards, technology trends, and demonstrable design skills; Ability to use visual thinking, storyboards, sketching, and communication design to create breakthrough interaction design; General understanding of fundamental visual design disciplines (typography, iconography, composition, color, composition, layout, etc.); Meticulous sense of detail and ability to seek out simple solutions to complex design challenges; Proficiency with design tools such as Adobe AEM, XD, Sketch, or similar programs (Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator etc.); Degree in Graphic Design, Design Communication, Human-Computer Interaction, or equivalent experience in a work-related field/program.

A Brief Overview
The Associate UI/UX designer helps define the customer experience, including online, email, and mobile touch points, to support the organization's strategies and goals relative to external communications at Stanford Hospitals and Clinics. This position will work collaboratively within the software development team to build, enhance and improve UI flows as well as produce the final interfaces. The Associate UI/UX designer has schooling in experience design, has a basic understanding of interaction design patterns/ trends, and knowledge of simplistic UX design and how it impacts user experience, loyalty, and consumer satisfaction.
